PM Imran Khan Applauds on Foreign Remittances

ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan valued Pakistani employees abroad for providing additional money via banking channels.

"Remittances for the past fiscal year came in much higher at 9.7 percent annual growth and totaled $21.8 billion for the year," Prime Minister Imran Khan said in a tweet.

The Prime Minister praised the employees from abroad for their money transfers, which he said were much greater than last year when they only went 2.9%.

The State Bank of Pakistan reports that $21.841.50 million has been sent to the Pakistan in the 2018-19 fiscal year, showing 9.68 percent development over the past year, compared with $19.913.55 million.

The Central Bank reported Wednesday in June 2019 that there was an inflow of employees ' remittances of $1,650.52 million, 28.72% smaller than in May 2019 and 1.40% greater than in June 2018.

Inputs from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the USA, GCC countries (incl. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman) and EU nations, for a monthly period of June 2019, amounted to 334 million dollars, 356.03 million dollars, 276.76 million dollars, 268.97 million dollars, 163.46 and 52.49 million dollars respectively relative to 356.61 million dollars, 345,31 million dollars and 260.32 million dollars, 260.25 months, 163.53 million dollars and 62.16 million dollars, respectively in June 2018.Remittances received from Malaysia, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan and other countries during June 2019 amounted to $198.81mn together as against $199.47mn received in June 2018.
