Pakistan Comes on Third in The Hydel Power Growth List
Lahore: The IHA (International Hydropower Association) has ranked Pakistan as the world's third largest country in terms of hydropower adoption, among 20 countries, a news source reported that it's because newly established hydropower capacity in 2018.
In its recently released “sector trends and insights’ publication ' 2019: Hydropower Status Report, the IHA firm, which is a UK-based company, announced its global rankings.
Under UNESCO's umbrella organizations, the IHA was formed in 1995. It is a platform for promoting best operational practices for the hydroelectric industry and aims to improve the sector with continuity.
Pakistan added 2,487 Megawatts of Hydropower to its national grid last year, according to the IHA report. By adding 8 540 MW and 3 866 MW to their respective systems, China and Brazil have achieved the first two points.
In addition, the report puts India in 8th position following the country's recent addition to its system of hydropower of 535 MW of electricity. On the fourth and fifth places respectively comes Turkey (1,085MW) and Angola (668MW)
